Christmas comes early this year as the White Rabbit finally re-opens after the enforced lockdown and the install of our new exhibition Big in China on Saturday 11 December.

What does it mean to make it Big in China? It is no easy feat to captivate the attention of over a billion wandering eyes and minds. How do we draw the focus of so many unique individuals and make them move in unison? Rather, it is the grand and overarching narratives, outstanding creativity and unique art practices that have the power to move a population en masse.

Due to the ongoing COVID crisis and lockdowns in Sydney we have made the very difficult decision to pull the plug on our current exhibition, Lumen. We will be taking the next few months to do a very slow, COVID-safe install for our next exhibition Big in China. The current situation in NSW makes it very difficult to make concrete plans, but if all goes well we hope to open the Gallery again in early December.

We’re not going to give too much away about our next exhibition… just be prepared to be wowed! We are planning to open our 24th exhibition Big in China in the first week of January 2022, but given the various lockdowns we are experiencing that date is still to be confirmed! We will let you know as soon as the opening date is set in stone.

The White Rabbit Gallery turned 12 on 1 August 2021. Sending enormous congratulations and thanks to Judith Neilson for building a flourishing arts hub for our community. It all started with her vision of a gallery, a love for Chinese contemporary art and a need to share it with as many people as possible. Judith’s generosity and care knows no bounds and we are forever grateful.

Following Sydney’s COVID lockdown, the White Rabbit Gallery and Teahouse will remain closed until further notice. Hopefully we will open again soon and you’ll be able to visit the Lumen exhibition which is planned to close on 1 November 2021. Stay tuned for further updates!
