The original collection book, published in 2010, showcasing 75 Artists from the early years of The White Rabbit Collection (2000-2009).
For the publication 99 artists were selected representing the breadth and depth of the White Rabbit Collection, and the range of contemporary art from China now.
Each book showcases 33 artists in alphabetical order. The publication, just like the comprehensive collection, is the sum of its parts. 99 different clamshell boxes house 3 books, each executed in 99 cover variations. With the total number of box sets limited to 2475 none is identical.
Inspired by the Little Red Book, the clamshell box execution dictated the typographic approach of the 99 essays introducing the artists. Bold and undone of graphic confetti allowing unhindered reading and appreciation of the depicted artworks.
Lucy written by Judith Neilson is a short story with some punch. A true story about a stray dog barely alive, adopted and eventually a lifesaver. A story hard and dark, a story bright and positive. A book that visually follows the story from dark to light and back again. In the french folds you’ll find beautiful line drawings created by Paris based Icinori. By no means an ordinary book in all aspects.
Redesign of the book ‘My Sister is a Martian’.
Written by Beau Neilson, daughter of White Rabbit Gallery owner Judith Neilson, when she was just 9 years old. The first edition was illustrated by Beau, and published in 1999. The fantastical story written by the 9 year old Beau, gives the reader the joy to look through the eyes of a young girl observing her older sister. Fantasy, facts and fiction are intertwined. This colourful book takes you on a visual journey of discovery, wonder and amazement. A visual celebration, as colourful and fun as the creative and magical mind of the ‘little Beau’ beautifully visualised by Hudson Christie.
