Ge Hui was born in 1983 in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. Among post-80s artists, Ge Hui is considered a “maverick”. He did not come from the Academy of Fine Arts and never intended to be an artist. Before becoming an artist, he studied physics at University in Suzhou and was also an art collector. His collection includes artworks by Yan Peiming, Georges Baselitz and Georges Condo. Ge Hui currently lives and works in Shanghai. a
