Finally, the Big in China exhibition guide is available at the Gallery shop, and still costs just $10. We have spent the last few months working on a re-vamp of the design, the guide book has become a documentation of the entire exhibition rather than focusing on a handful of works. We hope you like it.

Thanks to the unexpected early arrival of some equipment and magical install wizardry the Gallery will be ready to open the doors on Big in China a few days earlier than anticipated. We will now open at 10am on Wednesday 8 December 2021. We are looking forward to seeing you soon.

Lu Pingyuan, “Shadow of the Shadow”, 2021
“Shadow of the Shadow” is inspired by the physical characteristics of the artist character “Barbabeau” in the animation “Barbapapa”, whose body can transform freely. The artist then created this large sculpture installation using black light clay. This work is composed of more than 400 sculptures of various shapes that are derived from familiar forms within the experience of cultural and art history.

Christmas comes early this year as the White Rabbit finally re-opens after the enforced lockdown and the install of our new exhibition Big in China on Saturday 11 December.
What does it mean to make it Big in China? It is no easy feat to captivate the attention of over a billion wandering eyes and minds. How do we draw the focus of so many unique individuals and make them move in unison? Rather, it is the grand and overarching narratives, outstanding creativity and unique art practices that have the power to move a population en masse.
We look forward to welcoming you back in the Gallery very soon.

Due to the ongoing COVID crisis and lockdowns in Sydney we have made the very difficult decision to pull the plug on our current exhibition, Lumen. We will be taking the next few months to do a very slow, COVID-safe install for our next exhibition Big in China. The current situation in NSW makes it very difficult to make concrete plans, but if all goes well we hope to open the Gallery again in early December.
