Chen Yufan

Bio

Born in Putian, Fujian Province, Chen Yufan graduated from the College of Fine Art at Fujian Normal University in 2007 and holds an MFA from the Department of Intermedia Art at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou. Chen’s works revolves around optical structures with an emphasis on formal qualities and experimentation with notions of space. His often-minimalist constructions composed of dots or lines create spaces through the intersections and juxtapositions of surfaces and objects. The brother of Chen Yujun, the two regularly collaborate to create larger installations and have exhibited together, most recently at Tang Contemporary, Hong Kong, in 2016. Chen Yufan has exhibited widely in multiple solo and group exhibitions around China, Taiwan, Germany and Indonesia. He currently lives and works in Shanghai.
