Huang Jing Yuan

Bio

Huang Jingyuan was born in Guangxi, southern China, in 1979. She graduated from Concordia University, Montreal, in 2005 and was awarded an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2008. Initially focusing on installation and mixed media, she began to explore the dislocations of the immigrant experience, before returning to Beijing, where she began to explore the possibilities of painting from photographs, juxtaposing apparently unconnected images to create provocative and compelling narratives. Huang Jingyuan’s work has been shown widely in China, Germany and Canada. She currently lives and works in Beijing.
