Jiang Jian
Born in Chengdu, in Sichuan Province, in 1968, Jiang Jian studied at the Beijing Institute of Clothing Technology (now the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology), graduating in 1998. He worked and taught in the design industry for ten years before deciding to concentrate on painting, chiselling away at layers of oil paint to reveal details and fragments of things that usually go unnoticed, such as the strange, swirls and vortex patterns of hair growing from the crown of the head.
