Born in 1983 in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, realist painter Li Chao studied at the High School affiliated with the prestigious Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang, graduating in 2003. He then moved to Beijing to study for his BFA in the Mural Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 2007. His work has been shown widely in group and solo exhibitions in China. Recent solo exhibitions include a 2010 exhibition at the Iberia Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing; a 2013 solo exhibition at Beijing’s Today Art Museum, curated by Feng Boyi; ‘Chain of Evidence: Li Chao Solo Exhibition’ at Minsheng Art Museum, Shanghai in 2014 and ‘Nowhere to Hide: Li Chao Works 2011 – 2015’, curated by Feng Boyi, was shown at the Kuandu Museum of Art in Taipei in 2015. Li Chao lives and works in Beijing.
