Mia Liu
Mia Wen-Hsuan Liu was born in Taipei in 1980, but was educated in the United States, firstly at the San Francisco Art Institute, graduating in 2007, then undertaking graduate study in painting at CUNY Hunter College in 2008. She was always interested in drawing and in the material possibilities of paper, and she uses these media in unconventional ways. In 2009 she was awarded First Prize in the Kaohsiung Award and her work was selected for the Asian Art Biennial in the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Taichung. Liu participated in the Glenfiddich Artists in Residence Program in 2011 and undertook a residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris in 2013. Her work has been exhibited widely in and beyond Taiwan. Mia Wen-Hsuan Liu lives and works in Taipei.
