Song Jianshu was born in 1982 in Hubei. He studied sculpture at the Hubei Institute of Fine Arts, graduating in 2005, and was then awarded a master’s degree from the Sculpture Department of Beijing’s Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2010, where he studied with pioneering contemporary sculptor Sui Jianguo. His work has been exhibited in China and internationally, including in ‘Sculpture by the Sea’ at Sydney’s Bondi Beach.
