Bio

Printmaker and painter Su Xinping adapts western figurative art techniques to an exploration of his Chinese world. Born in 1960 in Jining, Inner Mongolia, he completed military service in the People’s Liberation Army before he studied painting at Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 1983. In 1989, he was awarded a master’s degree in Printmaking from Beijing’s Central Academy of Fine Arts, where today he holds a senior professorial position as Vice President. Su’s work has been exhibited widely within China and internationally since 1989, when he was one of the artists participating in the seminal China/Avant-garde exhibition at the National Art Museum of China, Beijing. Su Xinping lives and works in Beijing.
