Bio

Born in Qionglai, Sichuan in 1965, Yu Ji is a contemporary Chinese artist and one of the representative figures of performance art. Since the mid-1990s, he has continuously engaged in free, experimental, and cross-media creative practices spanning performance, installation, video, photography, painting, design, and writing. His work emphasizes the integration of corporeality, social engagement, and immediacy, making him one of the key contributors to the development of performance art in China. Yu Ji graduated from the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in 1992. He currently lives and works in China.
