Contemporary artist Zhang Hao was born in 1977 in Harbin, located in China’s north-east. Primarily known as a painter, Zhang Hao has also experimented with photography and video. His paintings are informed by his interest in various concepts and fields such as translation, philosophy, and sociology.

Zhang Hao graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the School of Fine Arts at Harbin Normal University in 2002. Since 2003 he has been teaching in that same department. He lives and works in Harbin, Heilongjiang, China
