Contemporary artist Du Yingqi was born in Weifang, Shandong Province in 1989. He is known for his mixed-media sculptures that are both large and small in scale. Du Yingqi received his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, earning his doctorate in 2020. He then stayed on to teach at the academy and is currently an associate professor in the Second Studio of the Sculpture Department at the Central Academy of Fine Arts where he is considered “a backbone of the sculpture department’s teaching.” His research focuses on figurative sculpture creation and the history of modern Chinese sculpture. He currently lives and works in Guangzhou, Guangdong
