Feng Yan

Bio

Born in 1963, Feng Yan is one of China’s most significant photographic artists. He graduated from Beijing Film Academy in 1989, worked as a cameraman in cinema for director Zhang Yimou, and lived in New York for many years. He now divides his time between Beijing and Taipei. Feng Yan has held solo exhibitions in Beijing and Germany, and his work has been shown internationally including in MAKK Museum fur Angewandte Kunst Koeln, BMW Foundation (Berlin) and Power Station of Art (Shanghai). Before becoming a photographer, he was a writer: his works include the novels Zhongnan Mountain, Wild Goose Pagoda and The Sound of a Chair Snapping Back.
