Born in Hong Kong in 1984, Firenze Lai studied painting at the Hong Kong Art School, graduating in 2006. She

works in a gestural and painterly style – her figurative works express the interpersonal connections and internal psychological states of people negotiating an overcrowded city and an uncertain modern world. Lai’s work has been widely exhibited, and was selected for the 57th Venice Biennale, Viva Arte Viva (2017) and the 10th Shanghai Biennale (2014). Firenze Lai lives and works in Hong Kong.
