Joy Li was born in 1999 in Gansu, China. She currently lives and works in Shenzhen, China. Working across sculpture, installation, performance, video, theatre, and music, Li explores the tensions between objects, bodies, emotions, and relationships. She obtained her BFA degree in Interdisciplinary Sculpture with a Theater minor at Maryland Institute College of Art in 2021 and her MFA in Sculpture at the Yale School of Art in 2026. Joy Li lives and works in Shenzhen, Shanghai, and New Haven, Connecticut, United States of America.
