Bio

Pixy Liao was born in Shanghai, China in 1979. Pixy Liao is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice covers photography, installation, and performance. She is known for her staged photography, where she poses with her boyfriend-turned-muse, Moro. Her works challenge the traditional gender roles in heterosexual couples, humorously revealing the multitude of ways to be together. Pixy Liao graduated in 2008 with an MFA in Photography from the University of Memphis. Liao has participated in exhibitions and performances internationally, including the Fotografiska (New York), Rencontres d’Arles in Arles (France); Asia Society (Houston); National Gallery of Australia (Sydney); the Museum of Sex (New York). She lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
