Shi Jindian

Bio

Shi Jindian was born in 1953 in China’s Sichuan Province, and studied at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in Chongqing until 1974, attending classes that were held informally whilst institutions remained closed during the Cultural Revolution. He developed a unique approach to creating ambitious large-scale sculptures that are ‘crocheted’ with wire. His works have been exhibited internationally including in exhibitions at at the Montpellier Chinese Contemporary Art Biennale, the Chengdu Biennale, the Guangzhou Triennial, and in parallel exhibitions of the 54th and 55th Venice Biennales. Shi Jindian lives and works in Chengdu.
