Bio

Wu Yue was born in 1982 in Chongqing. Since graduating from the Sculpture Department of the Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts in 2006, he has worked as a teacher at the art academy. He pursued further studies in sculpture at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, graduating with a master’s degree in 2016. His sculptural works are inspired by nostalgia for his rural hometown in Chongqing, examining tensions between rapid development and urbanisation, and the consequent fast-vanishing invaluable cultural and social remnants and memories. Wu Yue’s works have been shown in numerous group exhibitions in China. Wu Yue lives and works in Chengdu.
