Zhou Bin was born in 1970 in Xi´an and graduated from Xi’an Academy of Arts in 1990. From 1994 to 1997 he worked in oil-painting in the artistic communities of the Old Summer Palace and Songzhuang artist village of Beijing. After moving to Chengdu in 1997, Zhou Bin gave up the medium of oil painting and began to create art with performance, installation, and video media. After 2002, based on the fact that performance art was notoriously demonstrated in China and marginalized by the market, he deliberately focused his scope of work on the creative practice and theoretical research of performance art. Zhou Bin is one of the best-known performance artists in China. He has recently founded “Micro Body Language”, the first “body art” festival in China. Zhou Bin currently lives and works in Chengdu.
