Born in 1992 in Datong, Shanxi province, Bai Yiyi was part of the first generation to grow up in the era of the internet. His large-scale canvases capture a cacophony of information that ebbs and flows, harnessing fleeting details into airbrushed blurs, smears, and fragments to represent our contemporary society. His work reflects on the idea of memory shaped through the spectrum of the Internet’s visual landscape. Bai Yiyi graduated in multimedia at the Raffles School of Design, Donghua University, China. His first solo exhibition ‘Stay in Character’ was at Galerie Pact, Paris in 2023 and his second solo exhibition ‘Comet Drifting Away’ was at BANK, Shanghai in 2024. He currently lives and works in Shanghai.
