Chen Yujun was born in 1976 in Putian, Fujian Province. He studied in Hangzhou at the China Academy of Art, graduating with an MFA in 2007. His work has focused on issues of diaspora and cultural identity, stemming from his own family history and relating to the Central Min diaspora. Having studied (and taught, for several years) in the Multimedia Department at China Academy of Art, Chen works across diverse media and forms, including oil painting, collage and installation. His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions within China and internationally, and was selected for the 55th Venice Biennale (2013) and the Shenzhen Sculpture Biennale, OCAT (2014). Chen Yujun lives and works in Shanghai.
