Guo Tianyi

Bio

Born in 1987 in Jilin City, Jilin, in the far north of China, Guo Tianyi came to Beijing to study, graduating from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2012. Trained in the rigorous academic realism that characterises Chinese art education even today, he emerged with highly refined skills in drawing, printmaking and painting that he later extended into the medium of animation. Solo exhibitions include ‘Some Days Begin with Hopes and Some Days End’, On Gallery, Beijing (2013) and ‘Seen’, Yun Gallery, Beijing (2012). Selected group exhibitions include ‘Chinese Printmaking’, Guanlan Art Museum, Shenzhen; Art Nova 100, Agriculture Exhibition Hall, Beijing and Ivy Art Exhibition of Young Chinese Artists, Inside-out Art Museum, Beijing (2014); Weicunpencai Kong Space, Beijing (2013) and ‘Journey of a Thousand Miles’, CAFA Excellent Graduation Works Exhibition, CAFA Art Museum, Beijing (2012). He received the inaugural ‘Lalique Nova Art Prize’, an award jointly presented with Art Nova 100. Guo Tianyi lives and works in Beijing.
