Hou Lien-Chin was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in 1981. He studied sculpture at the National Taiwan University of the Arts, graduating in 2003, and was awarded a master’s degree from the Institute of Plastic Arts at the Tainan National University of the Arts in 2007. While still a student, he worked in his vacations in the studio of a stone-carving sculptor, which inspired him to master this demanding medium.
