Known for gaudy, deliberately ‘kitsch’ appropriations in painting, screen-printing, sculpture and photo-media of Yuan and Song Dynasty ‘Bird and Flower’ paintings, Su Meng-Hung was born in 1976 in Taipei, Taiwan. He graduated from Changhua National University of Education and became a high school teacher. Later he studied painting at Goldsmiths College, University of London, concluding his studies there in 2005, before undertaking a Ph.D at Tainan National University of the Arts, conferred in 2012. His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Taiwan, the People’s Republic of China, Singapore and South Korea. Su Meng-Hung lives and works in Taipei.
