Shi Yong
Shi Yong was born in 1963 in Shanghai, graduating from the Fine Art Department of the Shanghai Light Industry College in 1984, having specialised in Design. His work has focused on the modernisation of his city in a period of transformation and globalisation. Exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions internationally, it has taken many forms, including painting, performance, photography, sculpture, video and installation. Shi’s work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in China and internationally, including in the 4th and 5th Shanghai Biennale (2002, 2004) and the Third Asia Pacific Triennial, Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane (1999). Shi Yong lives and works in Shanghai.
